As Ned Rush explains in his latest tutorial video, one of the best things about electronic drums is the ability to modulate your percussive tones to create dynamic, morphing patterns.
Starting with the Drum Synth devices, Rush creates a simple MIDI pattern with Chance applied to select notes, and then turns to the Expression Control device to modulate different parameters using randomized values. Adding effects like Reverb, Echo and Beat Repeat into the mix and finishing it off with some layers of compression, he ends up with a constantly shifting, not to mention slamming, piece of heavyweight electronica.
