Is Live 11 supported on Apple silicon / M1 computers?
Yes, Live is natively compatible with Apple silicon as of Live 11.1.
What is the license policy for Live?
A Live license is registered to a single user and can be installed on up to two of their computers. Read the full license policy.
Am I eligible for discounted upgrade pricing?
If you already have a Live license you will see your personalized discounted upgrade pricing in the Ableton shop. Make sure you are logged into the Ableton user account where your license is registered.
Is there a discount for students and teachers?
If you are a student or teacher that is enrolled or teaching for a minimum of 20 hours a week, you can see discounted pricing at our educational shop.
Which payment methods are accepted?
You will see the payment methods available in your cart during checkout.
How will I get my license?
As long as you are logged into your user account when buying Live, your serial number will be automatically registered. You'll then be able to download the installer from your account.
How do I install Live 11?
The Universal Binary build adds native support for Apple M1 computers, while also being the suggested build for Intel-chip Macs running most macOS. We have provided the opportunity for all users to choose the correct build. For more information, please see our article How to update to Live 11.1.
What's the difference between running Live using Rosetta and running it natively on M1?
We recommend running the universal build of Live natively on the M1 for optimal performance of the Live default devices and effects. In case you are using VST2 and VST3 plugins that are not natively compiled for Apple silicon, please see our article Plug-ins on Mac in Live 11.1.
Will there still be support for Intel-CPU Macs?
Both Intel-CPU and Apple silicon are supported for the build. For more information, please see our Live 11 Technical FAQ.
